Why does some BHO taste weird

Hi everyone. I've tried a few different earwaxes and budders and i've noticed a distinct aftertaste. I'm not sure how to describe how it tastes other than it is an "off" taste. The BHO itself looks good, doesn't have any grayness to it. I also notice it "explodes" sometimes when dropped on my Ti Swing. When I take a hit sometimes a piece flies away and is like molten lava.

So can anyone help me out here? I don't want to be smoking something nasty that will harm me in the years to come.

It depends on what you mean "weird" because i've had some bho that was properly purged (witnessed by myself) taste really bad. But I knew for a fact that the honey oil was process with top of the line butane and nugs. I suspect the extra Chlorophyll from breaking up the nugs was the culprit. Since then i've changed my methods and have came out with shatter every single time. No longer do I have dark looking oil but amazingly bright amber gold.

I've had many types of bho and have came across only 3 that were either improperly purged or they used low grade Butane, which is a bad idea due to the nasty oil scents they add. Its a huge gamble to purchase BHO off dispensaries because they really don't care where they get their product they just want the cheapest thing they can chuck on their shelves.

I know dispensaries buying BHO from 1st time BHO runners. That's scary. Too many people do not know how to purge their oil correctly.

Be safe, dispensary BHO is a gamble to your health.


Edit: It could also just be residual water. Creating BHO while it's foggy or raining can cause this... or just a splash from the double boiler.

^^ what he said, i've gotten really good stuff most of the time but ya you really don't know how it was processed. Some dispensaries area bout health but very few are. .001%

I personally have been sold "Death Wax" Containing pure nasty BHO that was non medicating and was getting me ill. Patients need to educate themselves before heading to their favorite shop as their "caregiver" may be just an "asshole" peddling pot.

Hah, I wouldn't call it "Death Wax" but it sure was nasty, 3rd or 4th run BHO with tons of chlorophyll, waxes, and other nasties.

i've had myself some nasty "death wax" before and it wasn't very pleasing. I'm willing to bet it wasn't purged right...

I've had some really nasty tasting dark bho that was only slightly better then the nugs we were smoking. Was it bad stuff? It was almost pure black and it was bho not bubble hash.

Nice list, I had some the other day and it was really green/blackish more so than golden or yellow.

I've had so many hash oils sparkle and sizzle, I thought that was normal until my friends informed me. Bubble works for me.
