Thread: Weed butter

    Thumbs up Weed butter

Found a good recipe that worked well for me.

How to Make - Pot Butter

    Directions:
    1) Using a double boiler or two pots, melt the butter on low heat. When using two pots, fill the larger (bottom) pot with water and the top pot with butter.
(Figure 9.1 shows a small bowl inside of a pot)

    2) Once the butter has melted, add the weed. The amount of weed will determine the potency. For example, a "light" batch may use 3/4 of an ounce of weed to 5 sticks of butter.

    3) Simmer for 20-30 minutes stirring every 5 minutes.

    4) Let sit for 5 minutes then strain the pot butter (using cheesecloth) into a small bowl. (Figure 9.2)

    5) Once cool enough to handle, pick up the cheesecloth and squeeze out the juice.

    6) Cover and refrigerate pot butter until semi-solid.

    yummy!

I make Ghee instead. I too use a double boiler. It is clarified butter, that has been cooked with about 1/2 C of weed finely ground, remove milk solids, strain, return to double boiler, add another 1/2 C of finely ground weed, cook for about 30 minutes - now that is butter!

    Great recipe-

Some say that boiling it for longer has some benifits- I simmer for 2-4 hours works great, remove solids and simmer for an additional 30 minutes....high quality products....FYI- for the adventurous try non-cow butter- changes the flavor profile and in some cases- heavy non cow milk creates a really smoth result-lasting longer via products that you cant tell have any taste of the buds....enjoy & keep smoking - L8R

yes, i've heard that boiling it for longer just gets the rest of the thc out of the weed. within the first 20-30 minutes of boiling most of the thc is out but the additional time ensures that you get all of it. i made a really awesome batch and only boiled it for 30 minutes and the end result was amazing.

AZ420, by non-cow butter, do you mean like butter made from goat's milk or imitation I can't believe it's not butter type stuff? Sorry, I'm easily confused XD

30 minutes on warm/low after you reach the boiling point does what one needs.....power dry buds & butter....yummy on toast or in your favorite "sweet"......
